A holiday to Lanzarote Playa Blanca

Lanzarote Playa Blanca Holidays

Playa Blanca is one of the newer Lanzarote holiday resorts and can be found to the South of the island. At some 45 minutes drive from the airport, it may be the furthest of the 3 main resorts from the airport but its one of the best places to stay in Lanzarote for a quieter holiday with fewer crowds. Playa Blanca means 'white beach', the sandy beaches at Playa Blanca fit perfectly with that name. Marina Rubicon can be found at Playa Blanca, a large modern marina where you will find places to eat, drink and shop. Playa Blanca is also the port for many of the Lanzarote boat trips which include day trips to Fuertoventura aboard the ferry, a trip to Los Lobos and other Lanzarote boat trips around the coast. Because this is a small island, if you have time after enjoying all the things to do in Lanzarote Playa Blanca, you will be able to visit the other resorts and Lanzarote attractions relatively easily.

Lanzarote Beaches Playa Blanca

Amongst the things to do in Lanzarote Playa Blanca will be visiting the local beaches - there are some good Playa Blanca beaches to choose from and with the typically dry and warm Lanzarote weather, you will likely spend a good few hours on the beaches. With restaurants and bars overlooking the seafront, a meal and a cocktail or two overlooking the beautiful scenery is a highly enjoyable way to spend the evening. These are what we think are some of the best beaches in Lanzarote Playa Blanca.

Playa Blanca Beach is the largest of the Playa Blanca beaches, this white sandy beach gives the resort its name and is very popular. It has all the facilities that you would expect from the main beach in Playa Blanca and plenty of restaurants and bars opposite to take refreshments whilst enjoying the view.

Playa Dorada Beach is another sandy beach in Playa Blanca, again this beach has all the facilities, and great bars and restaurants, another good Playa Blanca beach to enjoy the sunshine.

Playa Flamingo Beach is a sandy beach in Playa Blanca with beautiful views. This beach tends to be less busy than the main Playa Blanca beach and is popular for snorkelling due to the clear waters giving excellent visibility.

Papagayo beaches. Although not actually one of the beaches in Playa Blanca, the Papagayo beaches are only a short drive away and due to their beauty they are often considered some of the best beaches in Lanzarote. If you are spending your holiday in Playa Blanca or indeed just visiting from one of the other Lanzarote resorts, they are well worth a visit.

One of the places to visit in Lanzarote is the Marina Rubicon - a large marina where there are some lovely cafes, bars and restaurants overlooking the marina with its visiting boats. Marina Rubicon is a lovely place to visit on Lanzarote, so if your looking for things to do in Lanzarote Playa Blanca, then a visit to the marina is an obvious choice even if its just for a walk around or a cake and coffee overlooking the boats. Lanzarote boat trips from Playa Blanca include a day trip to Fuertoventura, giving you the chance to visit another Canary Island. For a smaller island, you can go on and take a boat trip to Los Lobos from Corralejo (on Fuertoventura) - a small unihabited island with a beach, lighthouse and restaurant. A walk around the perimeter of this island gives you a wonderful opportunity to see wildlife, while offering some great views, its a great way to imagine what the larger islands may once have been like before modern life shaped them. Aside from the ferries, there are also some Lanzarote excursions that provide trips over to Los Lobos.

Volcanic attractions on Lanzarote

Another of the must see Lanzarote attractions is to the north of the island, close to Playa Blanca and this is the wonderful Timanfaya national park. A unique landscape, a product of the 1730s volcanic eruptions in the area, Timanfaya is amongst the best things to to do in Lanzarote, whatever resort your staying at. Playa Blanca excursions to Timanfaya include guided walking tours, coach tours and even camel rides. See water turn into steam as it hits the ground or food cooked by the heat of the volcano at this unique Lanzarote attraction. Another of the volcanic themed things to do on Lanzarote is the climb up Montana Raja, a volcanic mountain offering fantastic panoramic views from the top. Montana Raja can be found close to Playa Blanca, about an hours walk to the top, its gives a great view from the top and is definately one of the places to see on Lanzarote, especially if you are staying at Playa Blanca.
